yo-gah (v.)
Today I did a pretty epic thing - at least for myself.
After a fabulous new year's celebration (Happy 2011 to you all!)....
I started Day #1 of my vegan cleanse and did TWO power classes a YYoga, back to back. I ate Brazil nuts and dried apricots in between, sipping on some great ginseng/ginger tea with a friend while we waited for our sweat to dry from the previous 75 minutes and prepared for the intermediate level class.
What's interesting though, is that with a smile and a friend in tow, it really wasn't all that bad - even after my December hiatus (eggnog, rum, and couch potato-ing in lieu of yoga and oatmeal).
I gotta tell ya, this morning I was all about the "YO!"
now I'm feeling more of the "gah".
But it's a good "gah".
It's the feeling of a gigantic loud sigh gusting out of your chest after holding two-legged plank for 6 minutes - or the simple cheer at midnight to commemorate the end of a single year. We humans like cycles and endings, and while we may not understand the phenomenology of the ultimate cycle or our final end, I feel that experiencing little finishes along the way is the universe's gift to us.
Wishing you all the best for the new year - clear away any regrets from last year and let only the goodness of 2010 carry you over! (and keep a friend close!)
cmok! muah!
